Tilth stands on open maps and open data. This page names them and their licences, because several of them ask for it, and because being straight about where the numbers come from matters.
The maps come from Mapbox. The satellite view is Mapbox Satellite, with imagery © Maxar. The street map is Mapbox Streets, built on OpenStreetMap: map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the Open Database Licence. Map rendering © Mapbox.
Field boundaries and land parcels come from the Rural Payments Agency, through Defra's Data Services Platform. © Crown copyright and database rights 2026 Ordnance Survey.
The government map layers, priority habitat, SSSI (protected sites), agricultural land classification, soil types (Soilscapes, © Cranfield University), nitrate vulnerable zones, flood zones, groundwater protection zones and ancient woodland, come from the Environment Agency, Natural England, Defra and the UK Soil Observatory. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
The plant health layer uses Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data 2026, processed through Sentinel Hub.
The farm forecast uses data from Open-Meteo.com, licensed under CC BY 4.0.
The map is drawn with Leaflet. The app is built with Next.js and React. Field areas are measured with Turf, boundaries are read from shapefiles with shpjs, and your data export is packed with JSZip. Thanks to everyone who makes these free to use.
